The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program will provide learning for students to attend to a wide variety of patient care. We prepare students to function as a nursing assistant in a variety of health care settings with these learnings:

• Critical Thinking

• First Aid CPR
• How to Take Vital Signs

Our Phlebotomy Training course aims to train students to perform a variety of blood collection methods using proper techniques and precautions so they can become a certified professional collector, including pre-employment drug testing, court ordered drug testing, and paternity testing. Our students will learn specimen handling, processing, and accessioning. We will also help them meet the requirements to take the Certified Professional Technician Exam provided by the National Healthcare Association.

CPR Training Course

The Basic Life Support (BLS) course aims to train students to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies and provide first aid to adults and children during many emergency situations. We help them learn how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills, such as quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations, and provide early use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Students participate in best-in-class instruction and simulated clinical scenarios and learning stations. We have American Heart Association (AHA BLS) Instructors to complete BLS skills practice and skills training.

– The CPR Instructor Training course helps participants to be proficient in all the skills, including ACLS, BLS, PALS, PEARS, and Heartsaver.

Nurse Aide Program

Other expenses are scrub sets (top and bottom), a stethoscope, a watch with a second hand, non-skid shoes, a blood pressure cuff, a notebook, and a pen. You may purchase them at a store of your choice. (Average cost of about $150.)

The state exam costs $104.50, which you must pass to become certified. This exam is scheduled online at www.pearsonvue.com/nurseaides. Your payment must be made through a credit card, debit card, or other online methods. Personal checks and cash will not be accepted. Fees for this exam are non-refundable. The $104.50 is a state-regulated fee. If the dollar amount changes, you will be notified immediately.

Medication Aide Program

Other expenses are scrub sets (top and bottom), a stethoscope, a watch with a second hand, non-skid shoes, a blood pressure cuff, a notebook, and a pen. You may purchase them at a store of your choice. (Average cost of about $150.)

The state exam is $25.00, which you must pass to become certified. The exam is scheduled by Texas Health and Human Services. Your payment must be made in the form of a check, cash, or money order. Personal checks are not accepted. Fees for the exam are non-refundable.

Certification of this program is regulated by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) through testing from the American Medical Certification Association (AMCA). After the completion of the certification exam, Medical Administrative Assistant Certification with the abbreviation is awarded.
